About

We’re a community of activist working to improve the conditions of the black community in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. Structural discrimination and unjust policing, prosecution, and incarceration practices unfairly impact black communities. Building a just system urgently demands reform.

We stand together to demand change to an antiquated system built to stand against the minority. The freedom of the people did not apply to all people, and we’re here to demand that be changed.

Our mission is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminates discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of black people and all persons of color.

We envision an inclusive community rooted in liberation where all persons can exercise their civil and human rights without discrimination. We are committed to a world without racism where black people enjoy equitable opportunities in thriving communities. Our work is rooted in racial equity, civic engagement, and supportive policies and institutions for all marginalized people.

As an association, we are only as strong as our membership. Growing our membership is an important part of the fight. Membership gives us a nationwide footprint of freedom fighters that are ready to take care of business.

With every member, we thrive. Each NAACP member has the ability to help us double our reach to drive culture and change in communities across the country. We need every member to encourage their network to join the fight.
